Dr. Rosemarie Byrd

Dr. Rosemarie C. Byrd is a family medicine resident physician at Harbor UCLA, where she focuses on maintaining and restoring health, through treating disrupted intricate physiological processes and utilizing various modalities for preventive medicine. Exercising and nutritious eating has been a major force in her life since she was young. Her mother’s creation of plant-based Brazilian meals taught her how eating healthy was easy and delicious. Holding this guidance closely, Dr. Byrd has been passionate about passing forward this simple yet powerful notion of health. Dr. Byrd attended the University of Miami in Florida, where she obtained degrees in Biology and Chemistry and spent 4.5 years researching in Biology. Her foundation in biochemistry facilitates her understanding of how obesity, hyperlipidemia, smoking, and other medical conditions affect the body on a molecular level. Dr. Byrd received her medical degree from Temple Medical School in Philadelphia, PA. During her studies and training, she noticed curricula on nutrition and exercise were largely missing across US medical schools. Understanding that treatments beyond prescription pills exist for obesity and its medical consequences, she decided to take action. She helped implement a nutrition course at Temple Medical School and in 2018, Dr. Byrd was invited to speak at MedTalks2018 where she presented this model for nutrition education in medical schools. Focusing on personalized medicine, Dr. Byrd recognizes the importance of understanding all the ways in which health can be affected. She is currently is becoming certified in Integrative Medicine through the University of Arizona's Center for Integrative Medicine. Also, Dr. Byrd was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was “recognized for excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service.” She has held various leadership roles, from President of the American Medical Student Association, to Dept. of Biology Research Manager, to the Founder of Spirit Soup Kitchen. Dr. Byrd is excited to be apart of the ProdHealth team, helping clients reach their health goals.
